Wii Have a Shortage

Some friends of ours have been buying up Wii's lately and reselling them on ebay for $100 plus in profit. It's a good racket because the worst thing that can happen is you take it back to the store and get a refund, so at most you are out a couple bucks of ebay listing fees.

I just got off the phone with about 8 local stores and of course no one has any now. Not hard to believe with Thanksgiving tomorrow and the big shopping season about ready to explode. About the only way we could hope to get one now would be to be lucky enough to be in the store at the moment that the guy brings them up to the counter on the hand truck, but I bet there will be a line even for that. That demand is good and bad, because it drives up the ebay prices which is great, if you can find one at retail prices to sell.

As of midnight tomorrow night there will be people lining up in front of stores, building their sconce and digging in their heals to defend their place in line. And from that point forward, finding one sitting on a shelf will be about as likely as finding a winning lottery ticket on the ground in a casino.

It was a good idea at least. Maybe we can come up with some other toy that we can sell for money but it may be too late to do anything like that this year. I always seem to jump on these bandwagons a bit too late. Hopefully I will finally learn my lesson when it comes to things like this.
