Timing

I've seen a lot of people wearing custom lapel pins that denote which team their daughter or son plays for at kid's sporting events over the years. The one question I have is, how did they get them in time?

In my experience, whenever those have been offered for sale, they have an arrival date that is either at the end or near the end of the season in question. What good does that do?

So do these enterprising parents just order their own or are some teams using half a brain cell to determine that getting them in the preseason would actually be most beneficial?

Enquiring minds would like to know.
