I read this article recently called "7 painless moves to save $1,000" on msn. Check out the great advice below:
(here is the article)
1. Look for discounted dinner en trees.
Honestly, if you are still eating out often enough for this to matter, then you either don't need to save money or you aren't really serious about it yet.
"I'll have the fillet mignon, but I have a coupon..."
2. Return unopened, unused items
Or maybe consider NOT BUYING things you don't need. AND who buys things and never opens them? What people do this?
3. Look for extra grocery savings
Honestly if you are trying to save money and you haven't figured this one out yet, then you need more than an MSN article to help you...
4. Check out materials from the library
Ok this is a good idea, especially for DVD's. I've been doing this for a long time. I'll give them this one.
5. Bundle cable, phone, and internet services
OR perhaps GET RID of cable and internet services and use only your cell phone so you aren't paying two phone bills. I did without cable for a year to save money and probably shouldn't have gotten it back, but hey, nobody's perfect :)
6. Negotiate with monthly service providers
Not a bad idea, but the part that makes me laugh is that the examples they give are your "alarm company and lawn-care person".
And while your at it, consider talking to your butler about a pay cut.
7. Stash money for easier savings next year.
Yes, you read that right. The best way to save money is....(drum roll)...to save money.
With advice like this out there for free I fail to understand how the average American family is rolling in debt.
